Made You Look ‘08 Poster

Made You Look Poster 2008

This is the poster I did for the Made You Look Graffiti Art Show at the IAO Gallery in Oklahoma City. It was a great event. Thanks to Nick who did a great job organizing the show and commissioning me to do the design. It was a good time, however I don’t think any of us expected 700 people, a line down the block, fights and art theft, but still it was a good time.

DCSF Poster

Dreamer Concepts Studio Poster

I just finished this poster for the Dreamer Concepts Studio Foundation (DCSF). They are a nonprofit art gallery dedicated to providing an avenue for young and upcoming artists. This poster is for their current “Call For Entries”. If you are an artist this is a great gallery to submit work to. They have monthly exhibits and draw a large crowd. After meeting the founder, Amber Clour (who is an awesome person) she asked me to sit on their board. Honored, I said yes and have since taken on some responsibilities trying to help, which explains the poster. Hope you enjoy. Visit DCSF’s website.

Tall Cotton Poster

Tall Cotton New Year's Eve Poster

I just finished this poster for the Tall Cotton String Band and their New Year’s Eve concert at VZD’s in Oklahoma City. I did this all by hand with Prismacolor markers and a white paint pen. The only part that was done by computer was the lower right call out for the door cover. This was a lot of fun, especially doing something without the computer. We as designers seem so tied to our comps that we forget what can be accomplished without them. Granted, the comic book style fits the theme and required a hand-illustrated look, but nevertheless it was fun to work without the computer for once. If you’re in the Oklahoma City and are not going to see the Flaming Lips for New Year’s Eve 2007, then you should go see Tall Cotton at VZD’s, for sure. Peep their MySpace here.

Tulsa Reggae Fest

Tulsa Reggae Fest Poster

The Tulsa Reggae Festival Poster was a lot of fun to work on. I used an old icon found on a Rita Marley poster I smuggled all the way from Barcelona. I re-illustrated the center heart with the eye and then added the wings, rays and regal imagery. This was all illustrated in Illustrator CS2. Printed on recycled paper. This graphic was also added to handbills, advertising and t-shirts that sold extremely well. This year, I heard they had 15,000 attendees — WOW!

Sundance Movie Poster

Four Sheets to the Wind

This is the movie poster I helped design with the Director, Sterlin Harjo for the Movie, Four Sheets to the Wind.” I don’t know who is credited for the photo, but all I did was give it an interesting crop, lay out the text and slap the Sundance Laurels on it. I got this gig through Cheyenne Fletcher, a great friend, who was the Executive Producer for this film and Sterlin Harjo’s first film, “Goodnight Irene.” This film debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in January of 2007 and received multiple standing ovations. I owe great thanks to Cheyenne Fletcher, Chad Burress of Indion Films and Sterlin Harjo for allowing me to be involved in such a great project.

Ills Westcoast Tour

Ills

I designed this poster for The Ills’ west coast tour. They broke up, which sucks, but they were a great band. Download “How Much You Suck and We Rock”.

We also did some VERY fast handbills for tour dates. It’s not my best work, but I’m still quite fond of the war planes dropping OMs.

The Ills & Mad Happy

The Ills & Mad Happy Poster

Poster for The Ills & Mad Happy.

The Ills have apparently broken up, which sucks, big time. I guess it’s part of that Norman curse. Check out “Wake Up” by Mad Happy.

Hosty Duo Poster

Hosty Duo Poster - Portland, OR

Back in 2005, Michelle and I were living in Portland, OR and started to really miss some of the great music of our home state, Oklahoma. So, we devised a plan and were able to book a two-night, weekend gig for The Hosty Duo to play at Kelly’s Olympian in downtown, Portland.

Now, this was a huge treat because The Hosty Duo plays some of the greatest music to bless God’s RED Earth. All of the classics were played, including “Chewbacca” and “Johnny Cash.” Although I’m quite fond of “Opium Whore”, myself. Download their music from iTunes.

Oh yeah, and I illustrated the poster using Illustrator CS. I even hit the streets with 200 printed posters, but I was no match for the hundreds of other bands playing that same night.

Mama’s Cookin’ Poster

Mama's Cookin' Poster

Mama’s Cookin’ is a band from Colorado. This was the first project I did with them. It was a huge success. Their fans liked it so much, they turned it into a t-shirt and had to do reprints to keep up with demand. This poster was for their New Year’s Show in Telluride, CO. We did a limited edition screen printed run at Diesel Engine Prints.

Check out their song, Aquarius.

Also, check out my other work for them: Logo | T-Shirt 1 | T-Shirt 2 | T-Shirt 3
